Project Ideas for Google's Season of Docs

The X.Org Project provides an open source implementation of the X Window System, and works with the freedesktop.org community. There are many graphics-related projects that fall under the X.Org/freedesktop.org umbrella. A full list of the projects can be found here.

Ideas

Here are a list of projects proposed by X.Org developers. If you have ideas of your own, please post them on the relevant mailing lists.

Documentation overhaul

• Difficulty: Medium
• Skills Required: Documentation formats and tools (doxygen, XSLT, Markdown, etc.)
• Useful skills: Batch text editing, C programming for test programs
• Hardware/Software required: Anything that can build X.org will work
• Where to ask questions: #xorg-devel, xorg-devel@lists.x.org, X.org gitlab issues
• Description: X's documentation needs help. It's incomplete, unevenly edited, too hard to find, in too many formats, and on and on. Refer to the gitlab issues link above, pick a task, finish it, then pick another one and repeat.
